Now that university is over, I have the time to do concept art out of pure inspiration. This is a moment in time (and subsequent airship design) from a story that I may soon be turning into an RPG project. Both were longish speedpaints (a couple of hours each).

I wanted to use more saturated colours than I usually do, and bring in a narrative element. I liked the shape of the airships so much that I took the silhouette and worked it up into a full design. I was looking at a picture of a phoenix while I was painting, which had something of an influence.

Photoshop CS2.
